Wikipedia IRC help channel 21849 users since 26.05.2006
This tool is being updated, and will look a bit messy for a little while. I'm planning to
add a flag for the various channel to indicate language, as well as grouping by either project or channel type.
This
page
allows you to log into the various IRC channels associated with Wikipedia.
Channels may be associated with the various languages, or in other ways such as help for new
users, copyright issues and so on.
- To be able to use this client you will need Java installed on your system. If you are unsure about whether or not Java is installed, try to use the client. If it works it works, if there is something
wrong with your Java installation, or if Java is missing you will not see a chat window.
- One or more security warnings may pop-up the first time this client is used, please set these to 'allow' or 'approve' in order to use the applet.
- Over the past few weeks I've recieved a few messages from people unable to use this client. I suspect that this may be due to network issues, so try to open port 6667 in any routing hardware and firewalls
you have installed. Please refer to the manufacturers documentation on how to do this, and let me know if it worked.
- Please note that this client also logs, and store a timestamp of when the client is used, the selected channel, as well as the selected username.
This data is kept only for statistical purposes, and cannot be used to identify individual users or computers in any way.
