The DSM-IV lists General diagnostic criteria for a personality disorder, which must be met in addition to the specific criteria for a particular named personality disorder. This requires that there be (to paraphrase):ref
There are 2 main pattern of diagnosing comorbidity:
1) [[Internalizing]]: the core vulnerability which is common to unipolar mood, somatization, anxiety disorder
2) : common factor of ASPD, substance use disorder ref
